I did it all by myself!

So, okay, Addie helped...

This is our advent wreath! Yay!

Some other things I made with Addie's help...

Cookies that we ate way too fast!

A blanket tent! Thanks for the idea Auntie Carrie!

The thing about making stuff, the thing that gives me pause, chaining my inner Martha, if I have one, is my fear of messing it up, aka perfectionism. The more steps to something, the more chances to screw it up, the less I want to do it. So you see why I do well at simple but fatty recipes I am known for: party pots, easy lasagna, mac and cheese... and you can see why the home crafted advent wreath was a biggie for me... lots of complicated, difficult steps, even if it was finger painting, cutting and gluing!

BE IN AWE, DAMNIT!!!

okay you need to feel lucky that i have self control because i am bubbling over with pride and i want to call you and squeal in your ear but it if not even 7:00 where you are... i love the advent wreath!!! maybe we will make one too. and your fort, exquisite! see that's the best thing about toddlers, they don't care about perfection! they just want to try new things, have new experiences! so what if the blankets fall. the fun is in trying and being with mommmy and daddy. besides the attention span doesn't last long enough for perfection. so have fun! make a mess (over plastic on the floor of course, i'm not that crazy) and have fun being two again. just remember to share :)

The advent wreath is adorable! My kids would love making that! And I have SUCH fond memories of creating elaborate blanket tents that would take up our ENTIRE family room when my sisters and I were growing up! We would each create our own room, and of course we would rig it so the TV was in our tent as well. Then we would spend all weekend in there, creating our own little world. You are making wonderful memories, which is waaaay more important than keeping everything in its place! Good for you! So happy to find you, by the way! Can't wait to get to know you better!

Actually, Carrie, I was up!!! Seems to be 6am when we hear the "thump thump thump" of footie pjs. Even if she didn't fall asleep until 10:30 the night before! Pjmom, great to meet you too! Love reading your blog!
